Hello
again, thanks for joining us back. In the last post we covered 5 simple yet
instrumental steps that you must keep in mind if you are working with an
Industrial or a Forklift Battery. In this post we are adding five more safety
steps that will ensure proper management of industrial batteries at work. So,
let’s get started and see how we can further improve the security measures in
our working environment while working with these batteries.
1)
Make sure that the battery
cover is open while charging the battery: This is one common mistake that people make while
charging a battery. While charging a battery a lot of hydrogen gas is emitted
which can be released only if the battery cover is open. Therefore make sure
that you keep this cover open to let go this gas otherwise results can be
fatal.
2)
Always allow the battery
to charge itself completely: Another common mistake that can hamper the battery
life. Most people in order to process work faster tend to disturb the charging
cycle of a battery. They don’t allow batteries to charge themselves completely,
resulting in depleted performance and low gains. To make sure that the
batteries work in their fullest and efficient way it is imperative to charge
them completely.
3)
Clean the battery
properly: At times little steps like cleaning the top of the
battery properly or keeping it dry can bring a huge difference in its overall
performance. If you are using an industrial or a forklift battery you must also
know how to keep it clean. There are some harmful gases that are emitted from
batteries when in use. The remains of these gases can cause some serious
problems if they are not cleaned effectively. Therefore, it is imperative that
you clean these properties properly every time after you use them.
4)
Keep a regular eye on
battery leads and plugs: If you are working
with Forklift or industrial batteries make sure that you check them on regular
basis. Any kind of negligence can result in heavy loses. Make sure that you
inspect each and every element involved in it carefully. From its leads to its
plug everything needs to be studied and examined in a proper and careful way.
Any kind of leakages or inconsistencies must be immediately reported to your
supervisors or manager in control.
5)
Make sure your battery is
equalised charged: Though most batteries
these days come with auto equalisers but in case you are working with one that
is manually controlled then you have to take on this responsibility. Each
battery is made up of different individual cells and each cell work as per its
own capacity. This at times can result in some cells being over charged and
others little less. This inconsistency can result in slow down of your battery
and can also reduce its working life. Therefore, it is imperative that you keep
a close note of that. At least once in every month you make sure that your
battery is equalised charged. This will not only keep your battery safe but
will also improve its working life span.
